ELEMI (canarium luzonicum)

Elemi has a wonderful florally, spruce, spicy aroma to it and can be used as a base/fixative in perfumes and cosmetics. It was used by the Egyptians in the embalming process and is extracted and cultivated mainly in the Philippines as glue. It is then steam, distilled to get an essential oil from the oleoresin. It is very similar to spruce in its characteristics as it is good for stress, exhaustion, nervous tension and for bronchitis, coughs, colds and sinus. It is also an antiseptic and expectorant fortifying. Good for irritated, sensitive inflamed skin and roseacea, also mature and sun, damaged skin. Native to Philippines and the Moluccas. Blends well with lemon, lime, clementine, yuzu, clary sage, lavender, sandalwood, cedar wood, frankincense, vetiver, spruce, eucalyptus and citronella .
