ROSEMARY (rosmarinus officinalis) this sacred plant was used in ancient times to invite good spirits into the home. It is a beautiful clear and clean smell that can be very strong in perfumery. It is best used with other oils with lots of character, or in small amounts with lemon and bergamot, mint and other citrus. It is just this combination that Napoleon’s perfumer used to make his famous Eau de Cologne blend. It is considered the herb of remembrance, so sprigs are often given out at funerals to invoke memories of loved ones. It has long been considered a magical plant used as incense by healers and in religious ceremonies. Used for treating infection and colds, flu, bronchitis and coughs. Also, for edema, poor circulation and muscular pain and weakness. In skin care rosemary can combat acne, dermatitis, eczema and dandruff. It is well known for stimulating memory and clearing the head, ridding you of fogginess and inducing creativity and enhanced perception. Blends well with elemi, cypress, pine, spruce, cedar, clary sage, lemon, lime, frankincense, myrrh, eucalyptus and lemongrass, and mints.
